Ask a Librarian is administered by the Tampa Bay Library Consortium, and provides Florida residents with virtual reference services through live chat and text messaging from 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday (ET), and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday (ET).
E-mail is available to patrons 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and all e-mail is answered by the user’s local library.
The service consists of three primary features:
Holiday closings: Ask a Librarian statewide chat and texting services close at 5:00pm EST December 23rd, and will resume at 10:00am on January 5th. Statewide email will be answered every day except December 25th and January 1st.Email a Florida librarian
Ask a Librarian is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Florida Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.
