Rules and regulations

We’ve come up with some rules so that everyone plays fair.

  1. You must be a Florida high school student (in 9th through 12th grade) to enter the contest.
  2. There must be only one director per video. If more than one person worked on the video, you must still only enter one name as the director.
  3. The person who is entering the contest must fill out a Director’s Release Form, found here. Anybody who appears in the video (including the Director) must fill out a Talent Release form, found here. If you’re under 18, the forms must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
  4. All release forms must be scanned and emailed to thedirectorschair@tblc.org, faxed to (813) 628-4425 or mailed to:
    The Director’s Chair
    c/o Tampa Bay Library Consortium
    1202 Tech Blvd., Suite 202
    Tampa, FL 33619
  5. All release forms are due by January 24, 2009 (11:59 p.m.) -- no exceptions!

  6. Videos must be 25 to 30 seconds long.
  7. You have from October 1, 2009, until 11:59 p.m. on January 24, 2010, to submit your video to our submit page.
  8. A panel of independent judges will choose five finalist videos based on the following criteria:
    1. Creativity (10 points)
    2. Overall appeal (10 points)
    3. Promotion of Ask a Librarian (10 points)
    4. Relevance and accuracy of message (10 points)
    5. Production value (10 points)
  9. From February 8-20, 2010, you can come back to this site to vote for your favorite video from the five finalists. So tell everyone you know to come back and vote!
  10. The video with the most votes is the grand prize winner. The video with the second highest number of votes is the second place winner. The video with the third highest number of votes is the third place winner.
